I'm Back...
Don't you have enough to do without starting a blog? This is the question friends and family consistently ask me when I tell them that my blog is launching... -4/16/06
I guess they were right... I haven't posted in 2 1/2 weeks but in my defense I've had good reason. momready has been expanding and I just haven't had the time to get to the blog. We've just hired two new staffers which I am very excited about. This should free me up to grow the business, something I couldn't do with the increasing workload as our site continues to gain popularity.
So what have I been doing since I've been gone? Training, buying new computers and desks, and organizing... added to all of our regular duties here at momready. Our new hirings also required me to finish that business plan and create a revised division of labor.
This last item is always a little tricky. Not only did I need to divvy up the jobs between our employees, but I also had to give a few up of my own... not always easy. Delegate, delegate, delegate. This is my new motto.
Setting up for two new staffers also required a bit of capital as we had to set up new work spaces. While I knew in my head exactly what I had to buy I admit I wrestled with the idea for a few days. I went back and forth on the desks and the computers, did we really need to spend the money, could we get by with what we had -- blah, blah, blah. After going over it 1000 times I bit the bullet and went out and got exactly what I planned on from the start. It was a big time and energy sucker, but I guess I had to work through something -- that something being fear.
Growing a business is always a tricky thing. You can't grow it too fast or you can deplete your capital, but you also can't grow it too slowly or you risk stagnation. Finding the balance is the key and this is where the fear comes in. You don't want to make a wrong move and end up killing the business. Of course truthfully, everyone make wrong moves along the way. It's what you do after the error that really counts -- hopefully you learn from it.
Now that we've gotten through our transition, we can settle into our new organization and begin the real work of growing momready... and I'll try and keep up on the blog :).

If you ever think you could use the help, I can provide a quality blogger! I have alot of SAHM's looking for blogging gigs! Greta job and I commend you on your forward thinking with using a blog for your business.

Elisa ~
Glad to hear things are expanding for you. I imagine it will really help being able to delegate!
